Sunshine Travel RV Resort – Vero Beach Florida
Sunshine Travel RV Resort in Vero Beach, Florida turned out to be a great little place to call home for a couple of weeks. With a convenient location right off the highway it has easy access to nearby beaches, restaurants, shopping and parks. If you’re looking for a RV park that is close to all the action but has a remote feel to it, Sunshine Travel RV Resort is a definite option worth looking into.
Sites/Grounds
Site Map – Sunshine Travel RV Resort is a medium-sized park on a smaller foot print with 291 sites. They all have full length concrete slabs 50-60ft long for the back in sites and only offer 10 “elite” pull through sites. Most are in pretty good shape, but they are older and I did see a few that were pretty broken up. Picnic tables are provided along with double water facets and 30 and 50 amps power service. They said the Comcast cable was pretty spotty when we checked in, but don’t watch it anyway so no big deal for us. This park uses a key card at the gate so you don’t have to worry about the gate code number changing every week. Overall it is a pretty small park, but we loved that all the action is conveniently located right in the middle around the pool and clubhouse.
Amenities
This park had a refreshingly smart layout that surprisingly isn’t at more locations. The clubhouse was located smack dab in the middle of the resort and along with the heated pool, laundry, bathrooms, showers, grills, seating areas, mini golf, shuffleboard, and horseshoes. The laundry was literally right at the pool! This was really nice for a change as we have some how always be placed on the opposite ends of the parks as far away from the amenities as possible! No, not really always , but I just really liked this park’s layout and feel. The only other park that comes to mind that was kinda the same way was Crystal Isles RV Resort in Crystal River. Check out my review on that one also, as I really liked it.
Other notables…
- No charge for package deliver to your site through FedEx and UPS. USPS delivered to the front office. Always a bonus!
- Laundry – Card operated only. Must purchase empty card first for $5.00, then load up in $5.00 increments. For us only staying two weeks it would have been a bummer to have to buy a card, but we were luckily given an empty one to use during our stay.
- Curbside garbage pick up on Tuesday morning only. We have a small van sized garbage that we empty daily, so we would just walk it to dumpsters behind the office. NBD.
- Giant fenced in dog park. Looks like the size of a football field or larger. Great place to wear your pups out.
- Dance floor, party room, nice bath houses.
- Library with books, games, dvds.
- Non existent work out room. Literally a treadmill and a Nordic rider stuffed in a corner!
Location
Sunshine Travel is on the east coast of Florida in between Melbourne and Vero Beach located right off highway 95. At first I was worried about the highway being about 300 feet from our site (217), but there was very minimal road noise because of a nice large retaining wall and thick tree line. We honestly barely knew it was there and the park had a very secluded feel, except for the glowing arches I could see peeking above the treeline. The Atlantic Ocean beaches are 20 minutes away and there are a ton of great dining options with a view on the Indian River. The locals recommended the Tiki Bar and Squid Lips for great happy hours. We went to the Tiki and highly recommend it! Cheap drinks and good food right on the water.

Cell Service/Wi-Fi
While at the park I did some internet speed tests on our two providers we use for our phones and hotspot. I use a site called Speedtest.net to give me the readouts and both did very well. Our T-Mobile phones were reading speeds on average between 20-25mbps download and 10-15mps upload. While our hotspot with Verizon was producing a little faster speeds at 28-42mbps down and 9-16mbps up. Free wi-fi was available at the clubhouse and activities room along with paid wi-fi through StreamWifi at your site. We prefer to use our unlimited Verizon hotspot for all of our needs and don’t like to rely on spotty campground wi-fi. I also like the security of our own network as opposed to a shared wi-fi signal.
Unique Characteristic
I would say the unique characteristic of Sunshine Travel RV Resort is the central layout of the amenities. You would think this is a common trait of most RV parks, but unfortunately it’s not. I think by design the office obviously needs to be in the front for check-ins, which in turn makes most places put the amenities close by up front. This allows for less staffing and a more operationally central design for the park when they build. I get it, but it just makes so much more sense to put the pool, laundry and clubhouses in the center of the park and not the front.
Final Thoughts
8 out of 10. I really liked this park due to the layout, foliage, size, privacy and location. We will defiantly be back for a stay next time we’re through! Thanks for reading and feel free to leave a question in the comment and I will respond back. Also, check out our other RV park and campground reviews!
