TURKEY SAUSAGE BREAKFAST PATTIES

One area where many people struggle is getting in their protein at breakfast consistently.  Getting a lean, unprocessed source is even harder.  This turkey sausage breakfast patties recipe is great to add something new to your breakfast lineup.  A few ideas to put it to use: have on its own with a piece of fruit on the side, as a bed for eggs over easy, chopped and added into scrambled eggs, or on a whole-wheat English muffin with egg.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 pound lean ground turkey (93%)
  • 1 tsp fennel
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp fresh cracked black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp ground sage
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • ¼ tsp ground ginger
  • 1/8 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1-2 tsp olive oil

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Combine turkey with salt, fennel, black pepper, garlic, sage, thyme, ginger, red pepper flakes, and cayenne pepper. Mix until well combined, careful not to overmix.
  2. Form into 8 equal-sized patties (2 ounces per patty)
  3. Heat medium/large skillet over medium/high heat. Once hot, add oil to coat.
  4. Arrange patties in the pan in a single layer, careful not to overcrowd. Work in two batches if you can’t fit into one pan.  Once heated halfway through, flip to sear other side until cooked through.
