Thousand Trails Lake Texoma RV Campground Texas
Thousand Trails Lake Texoma was our first campground stop after leaving Minnesota and doing a quick one night in Kansas City. It was about 30 degrees in MN and about the same in Missouri, so it was nice to see the temps above freezing, although barely, around 45 degrees. The check in process was a breeze as it always is with your Thousand Trails reservation. They have your packet preprinted and go over the campground rules, site and amenity map, ask if you have any questions and 5 minutes later you’re off to pick out your new home for the next few days or so (first come first serve style).
We only had one night on our reservation, but the day before we arrived we decided to add on another. Ease of changing the reservation is one the major plus’s for Thousands Trails. When you log into your online account you can see your current and past reservations. As long as you haven’t checked in yet, you can simply press the edit button and change your reservation instantaneously. It is approved immediately based upon their site availability and also you length of stay rules based on your membership level (more on this later). Also, if you have already checked in on your current reservation, you can simply call Thousand trails and they can edit your stay in a flash.
Honestly, I’m amazed by the ease of the process. We can book campsites 60 days out, and can edit them anytime before the day of, all online and instantly from our phones or laptops. As I said, we only stayed 2 short days, so we didn’t get to experience it all. This review will be really short and we will get more thorough as we progress and have longer stays. Grounds/Site
Lake Texoma is fairly large at 285 sites on 300 acres. The sites were mostly private with good thick woods all around. We really enjoy getting a private site that makes you feel like you’re in the middle of the woods camping by yourself and this one did just that.
Amenities
This place pretty much has you covered for a great secluded getaway in northern Texas. The weather was chilly in January, so we just did a quick walk around, but we were impressed by the two large pools and hot tubs. They also had a nice separate (looked like adults) communal lodge, with wraparound deck and grill. Also a small fitness area, laundry, and kitchen in the same building. A few hundred feet away was the larger commons area with pool table, arcade games and activity center. Although a little outdated it had enough to keep you entertained.
Short visit for us, short review for you, but we will keep them coming! Thanks and feel free to ask us any questions in the comments below and we will do our best to answer them right away. Also, please check out our overview of the Thousand Trails program .
